Lasizwe Blesses South Africans With Free Electricity

South African social media personality and Youtuber, Lasizwe Dambuza, gave many South Africans something to smile about when he blessed his compatriots with free electricity.

Lasizwe Blesses South Africans With Free Electricity

The popular Youtube star is one of the celebrities who are trying to help people to cope through the woes of the coronavirus induced mandatory national lockdown.

Laziswe asked social media users to send in their meter numbers so that he could bless them with free electricity. Writing on the social media platform, Twitter, Lasizwe said,

“Let’s bring light to the twitter streets, send me your meter numbers. Let Lasizwe bless you with some electricity.”

Within minutes of the post, his Twitter timeline was flooded with meter numbers and the post has now accumulated more than 1 700 comments as well as over 6 400 likes.

True to his word, Lasizwe did not disappoint. Lasizwe bought numerous electricity tokens, which each worth at least R100 for some lucky social media users.

However, perhaps not surprisingly, the young social media personality’s actions provoked mixed reactions. Many lauded Lasizwe for helping out those in need at such a critical moment. However, others were not as charitable and accused Lasizwe of seeking to use the donations to garner attention and publicity for himself.

Others complained that R100 was not sufficient to buy meaningful amounts of electricity which would last.

Below are some of the reactions from social media,
